No one can touch your body to treat you unless you say it is okay.

You can consent to your care if you are capable.
You are capable if you understand:

• the nature of your illness;
• the nature and purpose of the treatment or care;
• the risks and benefits of the treatment; and
• the risks of not following the treatment.

2.5 What is free and enlightened consent?

You must give free and enlightened consent.

Free consent means you give your consent willingly.
You cannot be forced to consent. No one can threaten you,
either physically or mentally, to make you consent.
