The House of Commons has passed a Bill called Term 17. Some MPs wanted to make amendments to the Bill. The amendments were defeated. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador can now make changes to the education system. There will be ten school boards instead of 27. The new boards will be interdenominational. This means that different churches will work together in each school district. In some cases, they will share schools.
