Several practitioners offered explanations for these behaviours. They include: lack of realistic goal, illness, chronic pain, learning disabilities, negative influence of a new peer group, exhaustion, poor short-term memory, despair about how long the whole process will take and frustration with the course. Practitioners’ reasons for learners’ poor attendance Practitioners were asked to comment on the main reasons for learners’ poor attendance.
