Types of Abuse

Many women have asked themselves: "Am I abused?" "Is my partner abusive?" Abuse can be physical, sexual and emotional. Has your partner done any of these things to you?

Physical Abuse: How often have you been physically abused in these or other ways? Has the physical abuse continued to stay the same or has it changed? If changed, how?

  • pushed or shoved you
  • held you and kept you from leaving
  • slapped or bit you
  • kicked or choked you
  • hit or punched you
  • thrown objects at you
  • destroyed your personal belongings,
    i.e., clothes, pictures
  • locked you out of the house
  • left you in dangerous places
  • refused you help when you were sick, injured or pregnant
  • drove recklessly with you as a passenger
  • forced you off the road
  • sexually assaulted you
  • threatened or hurt you with a weapon
  • threatened or injured/killed the family pet
