Peter Butt is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Sydney, Australia. For some years he has lectured to law students, lawyers, and legislative drafters on the use of plain language in law. He co-wrote a recent book on the subject, Modern Legal Drafting. Professor Butt helped found the Centre for Plain Legal Language at the University of Sydney's Law Faculty, and currently serves as the Chair of Clarity, an international organization dedicated to promoting plain legal language.
