Christine Mowat, B.A. (Hons.), M.A., is Chair of the PLAIN Steering Committee. She has been running her plain language consultancy, Wordsmith Associates, since 1980 from Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. As President of Wordsmith, she instructs, designs programs, and manages a team of 10 instructors. In 1999, Carswell published her book, A Plain Language Handbook for Legal Writers. Her publications extend over two decades. Wordsmith conducts workshops for professionals at all levels and sectors. Her work with securities commissions extends across Canada.
