Program Mission and Goals: Literacy development, lifeskills, employment readiness, academic certification and employment acquisition.

Program Description: The Literacy Centre provides both full time and part time programming from August to June. Kelsey offers both one-on-one tutoring and small classes. Learner capabilities are assessed through pre- and post-testing. Psychoeducational assessment is available.

Kelsey campus collaborates with the literacy community in order to determine how to best meet the needs of its learners.

Literacy Centre components include:

 
  • Basic literacy (level 1)
  • Intermediate literacy
  • Computer literacy
  • Testing
  • Counselling
  • Life skills
  • Upgrading credits
Both locally developed materials and Saskatchewan Learning curriculum materials are used in the Literacy Centre. The incorporation of Aboriginal values has been implemented. An Elder and other Aboriginal dignitaries have been invited to conduct workshops on an ongoing basis.
