(for adult 12) Program Coordinator: Irene Bellegarde (Basic Education 12); Sharon Chaisoose, Director of Basic Education 10 and literacy programs. Communities Served: Currently there are programs running in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Mistawasis. A basic education 10 program is being offered jointly with the Saskatoon Public School Board at King George School. A grade 12 program is being offered in conjunction with the Catholic School Board in Saskatoon at St. Mary's School. Urban tribal councils and bands may purchase programs from the Saskatchewan Institute of Indian Technologies (SIIT). Program Publications: The Saskatchewan Institute of Indian Technologies (SIIT).has an excellent curriculum research and planning department that helps to put together its curriculum. Program Mission and Goals: Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT).has been in existence since 1976, offering training and education to First Nations Adults in Saskatchewan. SIIT is an educational institution of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) and is governed by a Board consisting of Senators, Saskatchewan Tribal Council appointee and an FSIN executive member. SIIT is mandated to serve First Nations adults by providing vocational and technical employment programming, as well as educational services for continued career growth. |
