• Guided reading: a program in which students read books at their ability level and have the opportunity to move to the next level once they are ready.
• Animated literacy: a multisensory phonemic awareness program that promotes the learning of sounds via specific accompanying gestures.

Elders and dignitaries are involved in the program. In the development stage many stakeholders were involved. Continued daily pull out for reading intervention has contributed to the success of the learners.

Unique Features of the Program: A very committed teaching staff, working together, has made a significant difference to the literacy levels of people of all ages living in their community.

Source of Funds: Saskatchewan Learning: School decentralized budget and community school funding.

Program Challenges and Successes: This program requires a significant amount of energy to deliver and therefore the motivation of staff is a key factor.
