The power of What happens when some women in an adult literacy program decide to do something they consider woman-positive? Thirty women from across Canada spent a year of intense action reflection interpretation and analysis focusing on this program based action research question During two taped interviews and in the on going documentation of their work these women discussed incidents of resistance and support moments of insight and denial, questions about the relationship between feminist and woman positive activities at three national workshop they shared their experiences and developed a collaborative analysis and series of recommendations This book details the research process an women's exploration of their experiences. It describes each of the twelve programs, its community, and woman positive activity. The recommendation challenge all those involved in adult literacy work to acknowledge sex/gender as a fundamental social justice issue. This challenge extends to all of us who plan, implement , and evaluate adult literacy programs who provide support services and professional education and development who participate in coalition building and who direct policy analysis and development.
