Responsibilities.
Providers were asked to describe their official
responsibilities in the ABE programs. Multiple responses (167) were given. Many
providers identified teaching (42 percent) as their major responsibility. The
second largest response was administration (26 percent), and the third was
counselling (14 percent) (see Table 6-8).

6.3.1. Major Focus
of ABE Programs
Literacy education was the major focus of ABE programs in the
sample; numeracy education was second. Job skills and life skills were listed
as being a minor focus (see Table 6-9).
