Method
Part 1: According to health education experts, the following 10 steps will lead to positive
mental health.
- Accept who you are.
- Talk about it.
- Keep active.
- Learn new skills.
- Keep in touch with friends.
- Do something creative.
- Get involved in the community.
- Ask for help.
- Relax.
- Survive.
- Ask participants to make their own list of steps to stay mentally healthy. The facilitator can
write these down on a blackboard or flipchart as everyone contributes to the list.
- Ask participants to prioritize the steps. This can be done as an individual activity or group
activity.
- Facilitators can then share the above list for discussion.
Part 2: Go ahead and laugh!
- It is a well-known fact that laughter is the best medicine. Discuss with participants why
laughter would be good for your health.
- Inform participants that everyone is going to laugh for one minute.
- Participants may feel shy at first, so the facilitator should begin the chorus of
laughter and set the time by shouting GO!
- This exercise is truly amazing at shedding self-consciousness and uplifting the
spirit. Have fun with it!
