LostTRACY SMITHIt was a beautiful summer’s morning. A beam of sunlight warmed Jill’s face as she lay in bed. She rolled over and looked at her husband, he was still asleep. She kissed the back of his head softly and tried to get out of bed without waking him. Jill tiptoed out of their bedroom and peaked into the room next to theirs. She looked down to see if her little angel was still asleep, she was, but just as Jill turned around to leave the room her three year old daughter opened her eyes and said, “Mommy, time to eat now?” “Yes, baby”, Jill answered. Those were the first worlds that Kayla said to her mother every morning. Kayla hopped out of bed and followed her mother down the hallway to the kitchen. Jill got Kayla’s favorite cereal and some strawberries, which Kayla always loved on her cereal. Picking at her breakfast Kayla asked, “Daddy still asleep?” “Yep, but if he’s not up before you’re finished eating you can go in and wake him up,” Jill said. Jill started to make a lunch for a picnic they were going to have today. Kayla wanted to go on a picnic for a while now, and this would be the perfect day to do that. The weatherman said it was to be no rain today and just a little wind. |
