3 PYT Clubs with a Difference

Amherst, Nova Scotia

A new concept for literacy unique of its kind known in Atlantic Canada. Literacy through the Arts is a 26-week non-traditional, multi-cultural program which includes free literacy tutoring through themes of art, culture and tourism.

Huntsville, Ontario

The Muskoka High School PYT Club is coordinated by the Learning Disabilities Association of Muskoka, in cooperation with a teacher at the high school. The PYT Club operates as an after-school program one day a week. “In just 4 months it has been amazing to watch our son as he went to tutoring.” (Parent) “He is very proud to read when he experiences success. His tutor taught him to take a breath and try again when he says a difficult word – this has been a wonderful strategy for Joshua!” Family Support Worker.

North Battleford, SK

Six “life challenged” grade-10 students from three Alternate Schools successfully completed a tutor training workshop in 2.5-hour sessions over a 7- week period. The graduates subsequently went on to tutor their own peer students.
