Provincial
One researcher has been working with the New Brunswick Department of Education as a consultant with regard to the learning differences between boys and girls. She has attended the Gurian Institute: Boys and Girls Learn Differently and is now a qualified trainer. She has given workshops, developed PowerPoint presentations, and shared the project research with the Department. The Quality Learning Agenda of New Brunswick includes an initiative to improve the literacy performance of boys.


Federal
The other researcher is a co-investigator and Education Domain leader on a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant entitled Immigration and the Metropolis. This position enables her to promote research and policy development in the areas of immigration, literacy, and gender. These areas address the federal government's priorities.

Career
Both researchers intend to continue to do research in literacy and related fields. They are committed to sharing their knowledge with others to contribute to and to create new knowledge in the area of literacy and gender.
