Highlights and Achievements

The Boys' and Girls' Literacy: Closing the Gap project met the goal of addressing the literacy performance of boys, yet not at the expense of girls. This goal was met by examining the literacy performance of boys and girls in a natural, authentic environment. Additionally, the implementation of literature circles, male mentors, and reading preferences contributed to the success of the project. National recognition and interest further validates the project.

This research has confirmed that a literacy gender gap also exists at ages nine and ten. These findings are based on the assessment results.
