SkillPlan - BC Construction Industry Skills Improvement Council Skills Improvement Program for the B.C. Construction Industry. Phase I - Needs Assessment Promote awareness of basic skills issues among key stakeholders; assess workplace basic skill needs, establish clearinghouse of resources specific to the needs of the industry and develop and test a train the trainer program.

Phase II - Response to Needs Assessment The BC Construction Industry Skills Improvement Council will respond to the recommendations of Phase I needs assessment which provides a framework for improving the basic skill level of workers in the construction industry.
SkillPlan - BC Construction Industry Skills Improvement Council Profiling Job-Specific SkillPlan - BC Construction Industry Skills Improvement Council SKILLPLAN, on behalf of the researchers and practitioners involved in HRDC's Essential Skills Research Project, will organize a training program to train workplace literacy practitioners in how to use this new methodology to determine the literacy requirements of jobs in order to deliver better and more useful workplace literacy programs. The pilot training session will be held in western Canada, and after refinements are made, it is expected that other projects will see the training take place in other parts of the country.
SkillPlan - BC Construction Industry Skills Improvement Council Numeracy at Work This collection of workplace examples illustrates workplace applications of Numeracy: Money Math, Scheduling or Budgeting and Accounting Math, Measurement and Calculation Math and Data Analysis Math. Numeracy At Work incorporates stories from workers across Canada about how they use numeracy in their jobs, and provides activities and suggestions for further exploration. These applied work activities are intended as a resource for teachers and instructors to enrich what they do. The binder format encourages flexibility and all parts of the book may be photocopied for educational use.
