Program Mission and Goals: To help participants reach their goals.

Program Description: Overseen by a board of directors, this program was established to help street people better their education and gain stability in their lives. The program runs continuously. There are approximately 20-30 learners in the program at one time. The program is offered through both one-on-one tutoring and small classes. Learners goals are self-determined through interviews and a Kaufman or GED pre-test. The following components are available to learners:

 
  • Basic literacy (level 1)
  • Aboriginal languages
  • First Aid/CPR for regular students
  • Intermediate literacy
  • Family literacy
  • Life skills
  • Job preparation
  • Parenting classes
  • Dinner program

The program is operated by one full time staff member. Staff must be certified teachers. The students work together to provide support to one another. The program is offered daily from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on a mandatory attendance basis. Approximately 30% of the learners are Metis and another 60% are of First Nations ancestry.
