Students are motivated to enroll in this program in order to upgrade or complete their grade 10, 11, 12, or GED. Students may also wish to obtain a driver's license or receive cultural training. A non-threatening environment and nutrition program provides additional incentives. Source of Funds: Saskatchewan Learning and occasional funding grants. Unique Features of the Program: Won-Ska Cultural School is a very unique alternate school within the public school system. It was set up as a "retrieval school" for "at risk youth." The program uses elements of the circle of courage to bring students back from where they have been cast out. Program Challenges: Drugs, alcohol, drop-out rates, child-care, transportation and finances. |
