Note: For the purposes of compiling the GEI, men
were chosen as the equality benchmark. In each indicator, the male and female
populations of Ontario during a specific time are compared in terms of
percentages. The female score was divided by the male score, providing the
ratio of women relative to men. With respect to Chart 2 above, the GEI shows
that the unemployment rate for females with high school education or less has
remained relatively stable, at a consistently higher rate than their male
equivalents. The unemployment rate for female university graduates is nearly
double that of their male counterparts. |
