Classified ads are the small ads that you see in newspapers.
People use them to sell such things as appliances, furniture, cars, and many
other items. There is usually a fee for putting an ad in the newspaper. The
longer the ad, the more expensive it will be. Making your ad as short as
possible will save you money. It is very important that you put all the
important information in the ad. The reader will want this information to help
them decide if they want to buy what it is you are selling.
Before you write your ad, jot down all the things you want to
say about the item. Read it over and make sure all the information is
necessary. See if you can make abbreviations (short forms) of any words you
need to use.
Some common abbreviations in For Sale ads are:
