Dear _______________:

As a leader in this community, you are aware of the importance of being able to reach as many people as possible to let them know about your products and services. But almost 50 per cent of Canadians struggle with words and numbers. This statistic means that many of the people in our community are not able to learn about or take advantage of the products and services available in our community.

The Smithville Literacy Organization is hosting an XYZ Campaign [insert name/theme of campaign] September ____ to ____ to promote the importance of literacy in everyday life. Through this campaign, we want to help everyone in Smithville understand how he or she use literacy skills when they are ordering in a restaurant, or making change, or taking the bus to work. We also want to reach those people who struggle with words and numbers to let them know that help is available in this community.

We are inviting you to take part in this campaign, to be recognized as a community organization supporting literacy. You can choose the level of your involvement, from putting up posters, to hosting an event, to being a member of the steering committee.

Please read the enclosed information about the campaign, and the statistics about literacy. If you would like further information about how to support literacy in this community, or be a part of the campaign, please call ___________.
